High on a cliff aside the top of the Houheria stream falls, is a manuka tree with delicate white flowers and sharp leaves which produce a unique oil. Manuka honey is renowned for it’s wonderful health benefits and superb taste.
The little piwakawaka bird is endemic to New Zealand and commonly called the fantail due to it’s beautiful tail measuring more than half its length. Take a bush walk and you’ll often encounter a fantail flitting about catching insects stirred by your footsteps.
The beautiful Mokoroa falls is the backdrop to this painting. Set in the lovely Waitakere ranges on the west coast of Auckland. The bush is truly spectacular and with constant predator control, the birds survive with a number of species to be seen and heard.
